Tracker is a server which helps to transfer file between peer-to-peer using the BitTorrent protocol. For this, there use two type of trackers Public tracker and Private tracker
Before showing the difference let me explain to you what is Public tracker and Private tracker
What are Public trackers?
Public trackers are also called as (open tracker).
It means any user can use this tracker address in they torrent client to increase the downloading speed for existing torrent or for creating a new torrent file.
What are Private trackers?
Private Tracker requests the users to register in they site to use the tracker address.
Private tracker doesn’t allow all the users to register on they site. An existing authority person needs to invite new users to join on their site.
So what is the difference between this Public tracker and Private tracker?
Public Vs Private Trackers
1. Speed
Public tracker is open to everyone so your download can get slow in some situation. If you get too many, request from a few peers.
Private trackers will have high speed compare to publish tracker. Since all private trackers have some seeding rules. Where every user who has downloaded the file are forced to seed back.
2. Secure
As I told earlier, Public tracker is available to everyone. So anyone can watch you while you are downloading the file. Which is insecure.
Where comparing it with the private site will more secure. Since each member are registered using an invitation system.
